Welcome to Take It or Leave It. Every month, sometimes a few times a month, Paid subscribers will receive a quick hit of things I’m loving.
Most of my writing is long-form and requires time for research between essays. Hopefully, this helps fill in the gaps for you with new finds (or things you want to revisit).
If not, all good. Take it or leave it ✌️

In the spirit of transparency, Take It or Leave It will now be a monthly series instead of weekly. Now, that doesn’t mean you won’t get multiple installments in a month. But I accidentally became important at work, and it’s ruining my life. Lmao just kidding.

I did get a promotion, and my schedule does look different now, but it’s actually going really well. I just don’t want to over-promise and under-deliver. I plan to keep doing Take It or Leave It. I just can’t commit to publishing every week.

Totally understand if you signed up as a Paid subscriber specifically to get these newsletters weekly and you decide the current cadence isn’t for you. I appreciate your support.

Big shoutout to everyone who’s stuck with me and chooses to keep bearing with me. I love y’all. I’m glad we’re in this together.

ICYMI: I published an essay on ESPN’s Andscape! For my debut story, I wrote about nine-time All Star Russell Westbrook teaming up with Nikola Jokic to lead the Denver Nuggets to joy—and hopefully, a championship.

During the Nuggets-Timberwolves game last Saturday, my essay was the first story link on the ESPN app. It was an insane moment and truly full-circle because I dreamed of being on ESPN as a kid.

Going to journalism camp, watching Stuart Scott on SportsCenter, I thought sports commentators had the coolest job. While my views on this eventually shifted, it’s dope to me that I still get to live out my childhood dream—albeit in a different way than I initially envisioned.
