Welcome to the new Take It or Leave It. Every month, sometimes a few times a month, Paid subscribers will receive a quick hit of things I’m loving.
Most of my writing is long-form and requires time for research between essays. Hopefully, this helps fill in the gaps for you with new finds (or things you want to revisit).
If not, all good. Take it or leave it ✌️

"I'm treatin' meeee right" - Mac Miller

Currently awaiting 13-16 inches of snow according to my Weather app. I can’t wrap my mind around how much snow that actually is. Even knowing that’s over a foot, what do you mean we might be getting over a foot of snow??

Back in college, I remember we had an ice storm that knocked out the power and even sent a tree pummeling into one of the academic buildings. My housemate and I ended up staying with a professor and his wife. I’m still disappointed they turned us down for dinner when we asked. In the words of Thomas Sankara, “This war is one we can and will win—if we understand that we need one another and are complementary, that we share the same fate, and in fact, that we are condemned to interdependence.”

In case you missed it, my first essay of 2026 documents my creative journey over the past decade, including moving halfway across the United States, starting a global poetry movement fresh out of college, and finding my way toward essay writing. These are some of the lessons I learned along the way:

🌮 TheReportOfTheWeek

My new favorite YouTube channel. TheReportOfTheWeek reviews fast food in the way only TheReportOfTheWeek can. Nate & Sara introduced us to TheReportOfTheWeek at our holiday party. The initial reaction is bewilderment, but over time, TheReportOfTheWeek feels like an old friend. I sit at the edge of my seat awaiting his thoughtful assessments.

The Denver Nuggets are playing the most inspiring basketball in the NBA. They have the best road record and are sitting at third in the Western Conference, which isn’t necessarily surprising. The Nuggets were a top title contender coming into the season. What is surprising is they’ve still been finding ways to win while some of their top players, including three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, miss significant time this season.
