I’ve had quite a few folks sign up for this newsletter since the start of the year, so I wanted to welcome you and offer a quick introduction. Thanks for being here!
My name is Alex Lewis, and I write Feels Like Home. I’m an essayist, journalist and social media strategist based in Columbus, Ohio. My work has been shared by some of the most influential at their craft, including Kid Cudi, Shea Serrano, and Terrell Owens. I also host monthly Shut Up & Write events on Columbus’ South Side.
Feels like Home is a place for me to share about things I love & the people and moments that have shaped me. I do this through personal essays and weekly content recommendations.

Hello from Kenya!!
I came across your publication my feed through the "Is the Internet Making Me Useless" post.
That post (and the conversations in the comments) resonated deeply with me. I used to write, but the pressure to write what algorithms would like became too much and I stopped. I've been working on figuring out the relationship I have with social media—fighting the built up desire to post for other's consumption—for 4 years now.
I want to think for myself, and writers like you inspire me to pick up this beautiful craft once again. 1000% glad to have found your work.
Now let me dive into more posts :)
You have such a smile.
